Community meals, free holiday feasts and food distribution
available in Mid-Missouri

Whether it is a community meal like at the Holts Summit Soup Kitchen, a holiday feast, or food to make at home, the Mid-Missouri community has a variety of ways for those in need to never go hungry year-round and on special occasions. 

Find out more about many of these services, and they all welcome volunteers and donations. Not all meals, free holiday feasts and food distribution points are listed; for more information or to share an event, visit www.newstribune.com/go. 

Community Meals 

SALVATION ARMY CENTER OF HOPE: Meals served Monday through Friday, breakfast from 6:30-8 a.m., lunch from noon-1 p.m. and dinner, 5-6 p.m. at 927 Jefferson St., Jefferson City; 573-635-1975, www.TSACentralMissouri.com or facebook.com/SalvationArmyJC.  

SENIOR NUTRITION CENTER OF JEFFERSON CITY AND COLE COUNTY: (For ages 60 and older and their guests), lunch served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Clarke Senior Center, 1310 Linden Drive, and West Point Senior Center, 2701 W. Main; 573-634-8020 or facebook.com/pg/seniorsrockJCMO.

Free Holiday Feasts

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH: Free Thanksgiving meal for the community served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 22 at 301 E. Capitol Ave (use Monroe Street entrance). Registration for meal delivery will end at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. Volunteers are welcome to assist including host/hostess, food preparation, decorations, food servers, delivery teams, clean-up and donation collection from community for meal program. Meals are brought to community servants working on Thanksgiving as well. Reservations are helpful, but not necessary at 573-634-3603.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH: Free Thanksgiving meal served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Kertz Hall at 1206 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City. Dine-in and delivery is available; 573-635-6143 or icangels.com.

NEW BLOOMFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH: Free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 22 at 323 Redwood Drive, New Bloomfield; 573-230-8673.

ELDON COMMUNITY CENTER: Free Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 22 at 309 East Second St. Home delivery is available for those who are homebound and live in the Eldon community.

Food Pantries/Distribution

SAMARITAN CENTER: 9:30-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday at 1310 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City. The center also provides Thanksgiving meals for families. Through Nov. 20, it will add a Thanksgiving dinner kit to its pantry menu items. The kit includes turkeys, chicken broth, stuffing mix, yams, gelatin, fruit cocktail, cranberry sauce and pie filling.
